To build up their careers, NUS MBA students get to learn and gain new skills through workshops and industry talks, along with having loads of fun!

Tech Talk on Big Data

Big Data Talk intended to provide more insights on one of the most spoken about Tech concepts – Big Data, which is extensively applied in all sectors – finance, marketing, governments and so many more. The event invited two senior executives – Kushal Bhomick from Oracle & Ananda Bose from Avanade to talk about Big Data and its impacts on modern-day businesses and society.


Talk on Business for Smart Cities

Hosted by the NUS MBA Technology Club, the Smart City Talk led MBA students discover the smart city industries in Asia, with a panel of speakers coming from various industries: driverless cars, water and waste management, and telecom.


Financial Modelling Workshop

Facilitated by Professor Lee Hon Sing, the financial modeling workshop organized NUS MBA Finance Club was focused on basic financial modeling. It covered what is immediately useful i.e. how to answer case questions in job interviews. Topics included: forecasting, linking the financial statement, valuation, risk management (Var, Standard deviation, etc.), and basic programming (VBA).

Finance Talk on Mutual Fund

Hosted by NUS MBA Finance Club, Mutual Fund Talk invited 2 guest speakers from Stradegi to share their experience about mutual fund industry. Topics included how to excel in the mutual fund industry and how to choose a good mutual fund. Participants also received some reading materials for their future information.


Bloomberg Workshop

On September 14, 2015, 26 MBA students attended an introductory training session on Bloomberg organised by the recently elected and very dynamic Finance Club. The session was held by Chan Kok Tiong, Lecturer at the Centre for Asset Management Research and Investments (CAMRI), a world-class centre in the research, education, and practice of asset management. This popular session will be followed by an intermediate training in the second semester, do not miss it!


Professional Fine Dining Etiquette Workshop

In October 2015, MBA students took a breather from tests and assignments and attended the “Professional Fine Dining Etiquette Workshop” organised by the Women in Business Club. The workshop was conducted by Ms Marion Nicole Teo. Students got to learn all the do’s and don’ts of professional fine dining, in an Asian or Western context.
