Describe your personal brand.
I'm a trading professional committed to excellence, driven to innovate, and dedicated to shaping the future of global markets.
What were you doing before The NUS MBA?
I worked as a FX trader throughout my MBA with NatWest Markets. where I actively managed foreign exchange risk, executed spot and forward transactions, and provided strategic market insights to institutional clients. Balancing rigorous academic work with real-time trading responsibilities is not easy, but these 2 years really sharpened my ability to make data-driven decisions under pressure, enhanced my understanding of global macroeconomic dynamics, and deepened my expertise in financial markets.
While my professional role remained the same before and after my MBA, my life changed profoundly. During the course of the program, I got married — a milestone that brought new perspective and balance into my life. Shortly after completing the MBA, I became a father, a transformative experience that reshaped my priorities and deepened my sense of responsibility.
Please share your key achievements and leadership roles on the programme.
It was a true honor to participate in Peking University's short-term exchange program, 'Doing Business in China.' This immersive experience brought together participants from across the globe, offering a unique opportunity to explore China from diverse international perspectives. Given China’s vital role as a leading economy in Asia and the world, understanding how to navigate its business landscape is increasingly essential.
Throughout the program, we visited a variety of Chinese companies, including Pop Mart — a rising cultural phenomenon and a standout in China's creative consumer sector. These company visits offered firsthand insights into local innovation, market strategies, and business culture. Our journey took us through three dynamic cities — Beijing, Xi’an, and Shanghai — each offering a distinct lens into China's rich history, economic development, and regional diversity.
This program was not only intellectually enriching but also personally meaningful. It deepened my appreciation for China’s complexity and its evolving role in the global economy. The experience was truly one-of-a-kind.
What has been the single most stand-out experience of your MBA?
One of the most memorable and rewarding experiences of my MBA was the consulting project with Climate Impact X (CIX), a Singapore-based global exchange dedicated to facilitating high-quality voluntary carbon credit trading.
Our project focused on a pioneering initiative — catalyzing the market for biodiversity (‘BioD’) credits, a concept still in its early stages. Given the novelty and complexity of the market, we operated with an entrepreneurial mindset, navigating ambiguity, designing strategy from scratch, and engaging with multiple stakeholders. A key objective was aligning prospective buyers and sellers to support the launch of the first-of-a-kind BioD credit auction. This effort aimed to establish CIX’s first-mover advantage and legitimacy in the emerging space of biodiversity-related environmental products.Successfully positioning CIX as a trusted platform for BioD credit transactions has the potential to diversify its revenue streams and reinforce its role as a hub for carbon services and nature-based solutions. It was truly an honor to contribute to this important work at the intersection of finance, sustainability, and innovation.
What made the experience even more meaningful was the opportunity to collaborate with four brilliant teammates, each bringing unique strengths and perspectives. Tackling a challenge so far outside my usual domain pushed me to grow, adapt, and think in entirely new ways — a defining highlight of my MBA journey."
