Immerse yourself in a week-long adventure in a new city, discovering diverse cultures and innovative business practices while expanding your professional network. The Global Immersion Program (GIP) is a student-led study trip that features company visits and meetings with business leaders, entrepreneurs, and government representatives. Past destinations have included Dubai, Germany, Hong Kong, London, Seoul, Spain, Yangon, and various cities in Australia, China, India, Japan, and Taiwan.
During the GIP in Taiwan, our MBA participants embarked on a week-long journey that included visits to Taipei, the capital city, and Hsinchu, renowned for its concentration of semiconductor manufacturers. They had the opportunity to visit leading companies such as Foxconn, ASML, VIS, Acer, KKCompany, Uni-President, Starbucks, and E.Sun Financial Holding. These company visits offered insights into the nuances of conducting business in Taiwan, exposed participants to cutting-edge industry trends, and unveiled job opportunities within the Taiwanese market. Additionally, our students expanded their professional networks by visiting National Chengchi University and engaging with NUS MBA and EMBA alumni. Beyond career-focused activities, participants also immersed themselves in Taiwanese culture by exploring prominent attractions, including Taipei 101, night markets, the Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall, Jiufen, and YehLiu Geopark. These experiences significantly enriched their understanding and appreciation of Taiwanese culture.
The GIP to South Korea offered our MBA students unique opportunities to gain firsthand insights into business trends and innovations across various industries. They visited leading companies such as Hyundai, LG Science Park, Google Start-up, Google Play Korea, Kakao Pay, IMM, and JTBC. These visits provided a comprehensive understanding of the dynamic business landscape in South Korea. A highlight of the experience was the opportunity to connect with MBA alumnus Jaewoo Park, Director of Public Affairs at Samsung. He shared valuable insights on the impact of geopolitical issues on business, drawing on his experience in leading a similar GIP back in 2006. The program also included a meeting with Mr. Eric Teo, the Singaporean Ambassador to Korea, where students engaged in discussions about economic ties and future cooperation between Korea and Singapore. This GIP not only offered a profound understanding of Korea’s advanced technology and business strategies but also fostered meaningful connections, inspiring students to consider Korea as a viable option in the global business arena.
A group of MBA students embarked on a week-long GIP in China, where they had the opportunity to visit prominent companies such as Tesla, Cainiao, Enjoy Town, Manhing Digital, Yingke Law Firm, UBS, Popmart, and Baidu. These visits provided valuable insights into China's economic landscape and the operations of leading businesses. In addition to company visits, the group explored esteemed academic institutions, including Fudan University and Peking University. Their journey also included cultural explorations of iconic sites such as The Bund in Shanghai, West Lake in Hangzhou, and the Forbidden City, Tiananmen Square, and the Great Wall in Beijing. These experiences not only deepened their understanding of China's rich cultural heritage but also expanded their professional networks and offered insights from top business leaders, enriching their overall perspective on the global business environment.
This GlP in Japan enabled our MBA participants to visit a diverse range of companies, including Invite Japan, Nikken Sekkei, Lion, Tokyo Gas, Tessei & JR East, Code Chrysalis, MUIC, Shimadzu, and Kobe Shushinkan. A notable highlight was witnessing the "Seven Minutes Miracle" at Tessei, a concept previously studied in the classroom, which provided a practical and impactful learning experience. The trip also included networking sessions with NUS MBA alumni and prospective students, fostering new friendships and sharing valuable insights into Japan's business practices and culture. These experiences not only enriched the participants' professional networks but also deepened their understanding of the Japanese market.
Beginning in Bengaluru and concluding in New Delhi, this India GIP offered participants an enriching experience of India's vibrant life through a blend of corporate visits, networking dinners with NUS MBA alumni, and cultural explorations. Participants toured major companies such as Tata Group's Titan Company and Infosys, and gained insights into the entrepreneurial ecosystem with visits to the State Bank of India's Startup Branch and the Karnataka Digital Economy Mission. Interactions with entrepreneurs from CRED, Plaeto, and VRO Hospitality further enhanced their understanding of India's dynamic business environment. The trip also featured cultural experiences in Bengaluru and New Delhi, including a visit to the iconic Taj Mahal. Participants had opportunities to savour local cuisine and explore the diverse landscapes of the cities, enriching their appreciation of India's cultural heritage and business landscape.
On an enriching GIP to Dubai and Abu Dhabi, participants visited a diverse array of companies including S.P. Jain, Ferrari, Dubai Islamic Bank, EY-Dubai, White Shield Partner, Red-Seer, Swiss Singapore, Axios International, ADL-Dubai, Al Futtaim Group, and Alan Pay.
