Describe your personal brand.
I am a positive and highly-driven individual. I often approach challenges with optimism, ambition, and determination, striving for excellence in all endeavours. I am also a relationship-oriented individual, deeply committed to building relationships (both professional and personal). I believe deeply that meaningful connections not only enable collaboration but also drive mutual growth for all involved.
What were you doing before The NUS MBA?
Having graduated with an undergraduate degree in Civil Engineering from Cardiff University, I initially pursued a career as an engineer, managing multiple infrastructure and construction projects. Seeking to leverage this background in a broader strategic context, I pursued an MBA to transition into strategic investment, particularly in real estate and infrastructure.
Post-MBA, I work at the Group CEO Office of Tuan Sing Holdings, an SGX-listed company in Singapore, as Manager for Special Projects. In this role, I assess and oversee strategic planning, scout new business ventures, and evaluate investment opportunities.
Outside of professional commitments, I cherish spending time with my wife, family, and friends. I also have a deep interest in global affairs, staying updated with the latest developments in technology, geopolitics, and macroeconomics.
Please share your key achievements and leadership roles on the programme.
I am truly honoured to be nominated for and selected to receive this award. Eager to make my MBA journey as fruitful as possible, I dedicated myself to enhancing community engagement and adding considerable value to my peers' experiences. As President of the NUS Sandbox Club, I organised events that fosters the story-telling culture experience. I am also an active participant in the buddy system for the Class of 2025, exemplifying my dedication to facilitating vital connections of new students that enriched their MBA experience.
My volunteer efforts also included roles as an assistant facilitator for the Launch Your Transformation module, and student ambassador for Southeast Asia and Malaysia in various admissions and faculty support activities. Furthermore, my involvement reached beyond the classroom through organizing cohort gatherings and managing a cultural exchange group, which promoted diverse culinary experiences.
What has been the single most stand-out experience of your MBA?
My MBA journey has been filled with unforgettable experiences, from running for club presidency to participating in the Launch Your Transformation (LYT) programme, and engaging in Global Immersion Programmes (GIP) in Japan and China, among many other highlights. However, these experiences all converge on one pivotal aspect: the connections and relationships I built, both professional and personal.
These bonds, which I believe will last a lifetime, with peers and professionals from a diverse array of cultures and nationalities, are the true essence of my MBA experience—not only as a professional asset but also as a personal treasure that continues to enrich my life. We have maintained close connections, continually supporting and assisting each other whenever possible.
What advice would you give to other MBA aspirants?
I see the MBA as a platform that offers the opportunity to explore, discover, learn to take risks, and grow—akin to a life lesson that allows you to transition into another stage of life. Remember the initial goal that inspired you to embark on this journey. Take your time to explore what you truly want. Once you discover it, stay focused and pursue it by taking calculated risks and stepping outside your comfort zone to learn and grow.
While academics are a crucial aspect of this master's degree, the MBA is more than just another qualification. Focus on networking and reaching out; you'll be surprised by the support you can garner from people! Also, don't hesitate to seek mentorship from alumni. Their guidance can be invaluable in shaping your career path and enhancing your decision-making!
