Describe your personal brand.

I am an introverted marketer, a lifelong learner, and a doer with a can-do attitude. Being an introvert allows me to focus on listening and put myself in others' shoes. And my experience in learning Japanese and English has broadened my horizons, enabling me to discover new perspectives. Additionally, my curiosity for novel things leads me to act with passion.

What were you doing before The NUS MBA?

While an undergraduate, I majored in Japanese and then studied in Japan as an exchange student. The experience enabled me to re-examine my self-identity as Chinese. To further understand the rapid development of China, I started my career with a marketing position in a state-owned enterprise specializing in infrastructure investment. In pursuit of systematic knowledge and a diverse network, I chose to go for an MBA. Following my internship at Tencent, I am now pivoting into tech firms.

Please share your key achievements and leadership roles on the programme.

After rising to the position of marketing supervisor at a large state-owned corporation, I pursued an MBA from Peking University before entering the double-degree program here at NUS. I spared no effort when performing the coursework and learned many things from classmates who have become dear friends. To maximize my experiment of self-development, I tailored my electives to two specializations. I orchestrated several project groups. While taking hybrid classes, I also helped make sure our lecturers and online students were on the same page.

What has been the single most stand-out experience of your MBA?

Participating in group projects with talents from all walks of life has been the single most impactful experience of my MBA. Regardless of industry, experience, and culture, we have shared our insights into business cases and even life philosophy. The connection has allowed me to explore a bigger world and encouraged me to go far in life.

What advice would you give to other MBA aspirants?

Never set boundaries around yourself! The MBA journey is an opportunity to reflect and experiment, and to reinvent your life scripts. It is a safe place in which we can open ourselves to new experiences. It would be a shame if you stayed in your comfort zone and never sampled those possibilities.
